Yikes! Blogspot Helps Spread Spyware

When I first read this I thought how can this be? But really it isn't any different than surfing a bunch of bad websites on a webring. The problem comes in when you're using IE and you click the next blog link on the very top of a blogspot blog. Since Blogger allows you to modify your templates, some bloggers are inserting Javascript that trick readers to download unwanted software. If you publish your Blogger blog on your own webhost you shouldn't have to worry about this because this header bar is only present on Blogspot hosted blogs (see the top of this blog). Firefox users are free from this problem now... and really you should use it. I've been using it for over a year before it was known as Firefox and love it. It also helps me shave off a lot of time using convenient extensions but I'll save that for another time :-)

Woo Hoo! Wordpress 1.5 is official

I'm going to have to find some time to update it and then I'll post more about it. I've suddenly got quite a bit of script updates/fixing jobs to do so my stuff takes the back seat :-(

Learning Movable Type: Typepad or Movable Type?

Well said Elise! Like her, I get asked the very same question often (and keep having to repeat myself :-D ) but since she's done a wonderful job explaining that on her blog I'm going to just send you there and thanks Olga for pointing it out.

Oops! MSN Spaces Correction

In one of my early posts, there was mention about how MSN Spaces' posting interface sucks... well it dawned on me not too long ago that I've been using Firefox all this time to update my Spaces Blog! Duh! Of course they don't support WYSIWYG on Firefox. It does on IE though.

WordPress Has Spoiled Me Silly

Published some stuff the other day and forgot whether I pinged or not! Do I hate that. Yea so Blogger pings but only Weblogs.com *grumbles* there are SO many other cool sites out there to ping like Feedster, BlogDigger... all the ones on pingomatic :-D

Seasoned....

Just looking at my profile I can't believe I've been on Blogger since April 2003! Wow... guess I can say I'm pretty seasoned huh... you guys today just don't know how easy you've got it :-) When I was dating my husband online (yeah no kidding) we maintained our own pages and in some ways you can call them blogs because that's what they really were a diary of our journey together and boy was it rough updating web pages especially when hubby has absolutely zero clue how to put together a web page until today (because we got ourselves into the Underachiever Mastery program). Okay this has nothing to do with the blog review.

But I do have something to say on that though... since I moved this blog back into blogspot, I forgot I lose my stats as well (dang!) with it on my own server, at least I could review my traffic. This is where I do like MSN Spaces since it comes with it's own stat counter. Off to getting some stat stuff to plug in here.

Underachieving Mastery: An underachieving revolution - Blogging

After listening to this call, and doing my own thinking, I've decided to test out something so I'm moving this particular blog to blogspot and redirected the original blog here. I want to know if having a blog on your own URL is better or on blogspot or any of the other blog providers.

This decision was also sparked by looking at the rankings on Technorati. I claimed all my blogs on Technorati and was surprised when the Chasing The Gurus blog was placed over 100,000 higher ranking than one of my busiest blogs, despite the fact practically nobody ever visits this - it was more of a personal journal. Hmmm why is that so? After some researching on Technorati, I discovered that because other people's MSN spaces blog who had enabled the 'latest spaces' block was actually giving me 'linkbacks' and thus better ranking in Technorati hmmmm I can see your wheels turning now huh.

Blogging Helper - w.bloggar 4.0

I've always been absolutely in love with w.bloggar. Maybe because I like to use my own computer to draft my blogs without fear of time outs or discconections. After over a year of using it I finally upgraded to the latest version, 4.0 and I'm loving it even more because now it supports more blog applications than ever and this new blog template option is so cool. Kudos to Marcelo the developer. If you haven't yet tried it out, check out w.bloggar it really is one of the best freewares out there.
